Brian Holden
On February 11, 2025, our beloved husband, dad, brother, and friend Brian Holden, left this world to join our Lord and Savior. Brian passed peacefully in Reno, Nevada with his beloved wife Jackie, cherished son Truman, and sister Martha at his side.
Brian was born in Hawthorne, Nevada on the hot summer day of August 15, 1959 to parents Truman and Eleanor Holden. Brian was cherished by countless family and friends during his time here on earth. Brian was one of the luckiest among us, spending the majority of his life doing what he loved, traveling the country as a truck driver for almost 45 years. Early in his years of trucking, Brian was employed by Earl E. Games Construction in Reno, then worked for several other long-haul trucking companies over his career. For the past 7 years, Brian worked for Pacific Stone. This was arguably Brian’s favorite job of all since the company is owned by his son Truman. His primary responsibility included hauling beautiful tile and granite from southern California back to the store in Reno. Brian took great pride in delivering products on time and without damage. As a testament to his impeccable attention to his craft, Brian never had a preventable accident during his millions of miles driven on the road. Brian loved working for his son and made his last trip just 10 days before passing away. He was looking forward to continuing this job for years to come.
Brian was one of a kind! Definitely the life of the party. His boisterous laugh filled the room, or the phone line, upon telling a joke or a funny story about the crazy drivers on the road and how he would “respond” to them. The eighteen wheel truck horn got a regular and frequent workout. Brian will be remembered for leaving everyone he knew, both long time friends or someone he just met, with a smile and a good laugh. His heart was as big as he was and as open as the road he loved to drive.
Brian fiercely loved his family and is survived by his beautiful wife Jackie, Fernley, Nevada; four children, son Chris Holden, Reno, Nevada, son Truman Holden (Ashlee) Reno, Nevada; daughter Traja Holden, Fernley, Nevada; and stepdaughter Shannon Myers, Reno, Nevada. Brian is also survived by seven brothers and sisters; Bill Start, Jim McMartin, Dennis Holden, Jean Howden, Tina Edgar, Martha Holden and Mike Holden. He is survived by 8 grandchildren as well.
A private burial ceremony will be held at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church in Sparks, Nevada on Saturday, March 8th, 2025. Afterwards, all are invited to attend a Celebration of Life reception at the Meadows Center from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. located at 1045 Englewood Drive in Fernley, Nevada.
