Council approves job description, pay scale for code enforcement officer position
The City of Fernley is now recruiting two code enforcement officers following City Council approval of the job description and pay scale on Oct. 1. The new positions aim to relieve the building department, which has seen code enforcement demands quadruple over the past five years. The entry-level roles pay between $28.23 and $38.25 per hour. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, relevant coursework or experience, and the ability to obtain an International Code Council certification within a year of hire. 10/09/2025 08:39 PM

Fernley Mayor Neal McIntyre and the Lyon County Commission recognized Oct. 5–11 as National 4‑H Week, celebrating this year’s theme, “Beyond Ready.” 4‑H empowers youth with skills for the future through hands-on learning in leadership, science, agriculture, and more. Activities range from robotics and creative writing to Mustang Camp and growing ingredients for pizza from scratch. City Council votes to censure Lau
Fernley City Council voted 3-1-1 on Sept. 17 to censure Councilman Stan Lau and remove him from his committee assignments following debate over his conduct during April and May budget meetings and his August arrest.
