Sheriff’s deputy, Dayton resident recognized for rescuing man during fire
Lyon County Sheriff’s Investigator Jeremy Tafelmeyer and Dayton resident Jose Ramos-Conchas were honored Oct. 2 by the Lyon County Commission for rescuing a man from a burning home in Dayton on Aug. 22. Tafelmeyer received the Sheriff’s Office Lifesaving Medal, and Ramos-Conchas was presented the Community Service Award for their bravery and quick action that saved a life. 10/09/2025 07:58 PM

Sheriff’s Office focusing on traffic enforcement around schools
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is increasing patrols around Fernley school zones to address congestion and safety concerns. Deputies will focus on Cottonwood Elementary, Hardie Lane near Fernley Elementary, and the Newlands Drive stoplight, where traffic backups and unsafe driving have been reported.
