Food For Thought - Autumn Apple Crisp

Whether Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Gala or Granny Smith you cannot go wrong with any 

assortment of apples for this delicious and easy to make Autumn Apple Crisp. It’s harvest time 

and apples are at their peak deliciousness, so grab a basket of your favorite apple assortment and 

enjoy harvest season with this mouth-watering dessert. 

Ingredients  

6 Apples (a variety of flavors taste best)  

2 Tablespoons Sugar  

1 1/2 Teaspoons cinnamon, divided  

1/8 Teaspoon ground cloves  

1 Cup brown sugar  

3/4 Cup old fashioned oats  

3/4 Cup flour  

1/2 Cup butter, cold and cubed (1 cube) 

Instructions  

1. Preheat to 350 degrees. 

2. Peel and core apples, cut into thin slices. 

3. In a large mixing bowl, toss apple slices with sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/8 

teaspoon ground cloves. Toss until apples are well coated, put apples into 9” baking dish.  

4. In a separate bowl mix brown sugar, oats, flour and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon.  

5. Cut the cold cubed butter into the brown sugar and oat mixture and mix until the ingredients 

are crumbly. 

6. Add the brown sugar and oat mixture over the apples and gently pat until the mixture is 

pressed and completely covering the top of the apples. 

7. Bake at 350 degrees for 45-55 minutes . 

8. Remove from oven and let cool, top with whipped topping and serve. 

Enjoy!
