Fernley City Council declares State of Emergency

In an emergency meeting Monday afternoon, the Fernley City Council approved a resolution declaring a local State of Emergency for the City of Fernley due to the potential public health threat posed by COVID-19.

The resolution gives the Mayor and his designee the authority to determine the following:

  • Essential functions and services provided by the City
  • Staff requirements, including allowing telecommuting
  • Administrative leave when reasonable including employees impacted by childcare issues or contact with potentially affected persons
  • Administration of utility late fees
  • Closing of City Hall to the public
  • Any other matters that are deemed necessary
