  • Dan McCassie, a member of Fernley's City Council, was elected to represent the people of Ward #2, sometime in 2012 (the year my wife and I had moved to this growing town). From that time until he had decided to relocate outside of our area, I recall that one of his later efforts - and lasting results - on behalf of local residents was the installation of street lighting at the intersection at 95A and Sage Dr. His success in this regard was a consequence of the previous efforts made by of one of our concerned neighbors, Mr. Dan Gomes, the latter having circulated a petition in 2014/2015 that some kind of action needed to be taken to solve the night time, traffic problem at that particular, dangerous location. During the several years of my "prodding" contacts with Councilman McCassie about this issue, it seemed that although any of the delays were due to his needing to work with the several governments having jurisdiction over the street lighting project, the results of his and Mr. Gomes' efforts on our behalf are now evident. For having worked to provide a safer intersection, our thanks
