“There’s a deficiency there,” Mendoza said. “We ran over 4,200 calls (last year) and I think we’re pushing 1,400 calls for this last quarter. So, I just think if we are promoting growth in the community and not thinking about public safety, I think we’re doing our community a disservice.

City hopes to leverage private funds for downtown
The recently approved MOU and funding commitment continues the city’s relationship with Main Street Fernley that began in the 2022/2023 budget year when the city agreed to commit $25,000 annually to the organization for downtown improvement, the staff report indicated.
