Hundreds of American Legion Riders from across the country will attend a wreath laying ceremony at the Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery as a stop on the last day of the 2017 American Legion Legacy Run.
The run is a six day, multistate motorcycle ride to raise awareness about The American Legion Legacy Scholarship and the important work Legionnaires are doing in their local community.

Riders are scheduled to arrive at 8:45 a.m.

Veterans have traveled from as far away as California, Alabama, New York, and Florida to take part in the American Legion Legacy Run, a six-day, multistate motorcycle ride to raise awareness about The American Legion Legacy Scholarship. The ride will conclude on Thursday, Aug. 17 in Reno, site of the 99th National Convention of The American Legion.

Since its inception in 2002, more than $12 million has been raised for The American Legion Legacy Scholarship. The American Legion Riders have generated several million dollars for the scholarship through The American Legion Legacy Run and are also engaged in countless other charitable activities that contribute thousands of dollars annually to other national, state and local programs and charities for veterans, military families and communities.

Eligibility for The American Legion Legacy Scholarship is open to children of servicemembers who died while on active duty following 9/11 as well as children of post-9/11 veterans who have been assigned a combined disability rating by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) of 50 percent or higher. Detailed information on the scholarship is available at Legion.org/scholarships/legacy.
