Travel delays will take place July 17 through 19 at the U.S. 50 and Alternate U.S. 50/U.S. 95 intersection in Silver Springs as part of a Nevada Department of Transportation road improvement project.

Flaggers will direct vehicle traffic through the intersection July 17 through 19 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. during roadway paving. Drivers should expect up to 30-minute travel delays.

Through late fall, continuing lane and roadway shoulder closures will also take place on Alternate U.S. 50/U.S. 95 between Silver Springs and Fernley weekdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Up to 30-minute travel delays are possible.

The road work is part of an NDOT project to repave approximately 11 miles of Alternate U.S. 50/U.S. 95 between U.S. 50 in Silver Springs and Royal Oaks Drive south of Fernley. Thus far, 11 miles of two-lane highway has been milled and recycled to create a base for approximately 53,000 tons of new pavement to be placed over the coming months. New passing lanes have also been installed, roadway slopes flattened for safety and roadside guardrail replaced.

The approximately $7.6 million project by A&K Earth Movers, Inc. will improve the highway for the nearly 5,000 drivers who travel it daily. Further project information is available at nevadadot.com or by dialing (775) 888-7000.
