Three graduate, 28 earn Equivalency through Lyon County Adult Ed

Three students graduated this year through Lyon County Adult Education and received their high school diplomas.

Richard Martinez Jr., Renee Christine Nelloms and Elissa R. Ortiz earned their high school diplomas and participated in a graduation ceremony May 30.

In addition, the program had 28 students who earned their High School Equivalency Certificate.

LCSD has Adult Education Centers in Fernley, Silver Springs and Yerington, giving those students who didn’t complete their high school requirements a chance to complete their credits and take the state required exams, or complete their High School Equivalency testing.

The school district announced that Carol King, the instructor in the Fernley Adult Education Center, is retiring after 12 years with LCSD Adult Education and 31 total years in the school district.

King’s replacement has yet to be approved by the district Board of Trustees.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
