Checking out a book from the Fernley Library has just gotten a lot faster,

Amy Geddes, Lyon County Library Director and Fernley Librarian Ramona Campbell teach patrons how to use the new checkout scanning system at the Fernley Library.

There is no more waiting at the Fernley Library when checking out books because the library’s new self-checkout scanners do all the work for you.

Just scan your library card and place the item to be checked out on the special platform and you are done. Additionally, a printed copy of the transaction tells you when the material must be returned.

Lyon County Library Director Amy Geddes is installing these quick check out systems in all of the county's libraries and training the librarians how to use the system, so they can train the library’s patrons.

“The system is easy to use and lets users quickly get in and out of the library,” Geddes said. “Patrons should remember to bring their library cards so they can be scanned.”

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
