Pedestrian killed on I-80 east of Fernley

The Fernley Reporter

On April 30, 2017 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers were dispatched to eastbound Interstate 80 near mile marker 66 in Churchill County (approximately 15 miles east of Fernley) for a fatal collision involving a pedestrian.

For an unknown reason, a pedestrian was in the left eastbound lane of I-80. A white 2002 Dodge Dakota pickup was traveling eastbound in the left lane and struck the pedestrian with the left front of the vehicle.

The pedestrian (name withheld until next of kin is notified) died on scene as a result of the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the Dodge Dakota did stay on scene and waited for Law Enforcement and cooperated fully during the investigation.

If you were a witness to this incident, or have any information regarding this collision, please contact Trooper Karen Garretson of the Nevada Highway Patrol Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) at 775-687-9618 or [email protected] Case #170402677

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
