Track: Fernley boys 7th, girls 8th at Carson Invitational

The Fernley High School boys track team placed seventh at last Saturday’s Carson Invitational, while the girls team finished eighth.

The boys team scored 51.5 team points and was third among Northern 3A teams, while the girls scored 35 and were fourth among Northern 3A teams. A total of 19 boys teams and 18 girls teams scored points.

Sam Wright had the best individual day for the Vaqueros, winning the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.54 and placing second in the 110 hurdles with a time of 15.66.

Fernley also placed second in the 4x400 relay with Jadan Rotton, Justin Turner, Jason Hneitina and Wright running in 3:39.39, while Rotton placed third in the 100 meters in a time of 11.55

For the girls, the 4x800 relay team of Taylor Richardson, Grace DeLeon, Samantha Manning and Piper Crook claimed the team’s only first place with a time of 9:43.21

Riana Allred took second place in the 100 hurdles in 17.06, while the 4x400 relay team of Richardson, Jaiden Sullivan, Manning and Crook came in third with a time of 4:22.05.

Both teams took second place in Wednesday’s Conclave of Awesomeness in Fallon, a four-team meet with Fallon, Dayton and Yerington.

Individual winners for the girls were Sullivan in the 800, with a time of 2:45.31, Crook in the 1600 in 5:40.05; Allred in the 100 hurdles in 16.96 and Stephanie Perez in the high jump, with a leap of 4-10.

For the boys, Eric Rosales won the 800 in 2:19.27, Wright won the 110 hurdles in 15.66 and Fernley won the 4x400 and 4x800 relays.
