After one tiebreaker went against them and another went in their favor; the Fernley High School volleyball team enters the Northern 3A volleyball playoffs as the No. 2 seed.
The Vaqueros were scheduled to host Incline, the No. 8 seed, Tuesday night in the first round. The winner of that match advances to Friday’s semifinals at South Tahoe to face either South Tahoe or Fallon at 5 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.
Fernley finished the regular season 9-1 in the Northern 3A West and as part of a three‑way tie with Truckee and South Tahoe for first place. Truckee earned the No. 1 seed with a 2-1 record against Fernley and South Tahoe, and Fernley claimed the No. 2 seed because it won the head‑to‑head match with South Tahoe.
The Vaqueros closed the regular season last Thursday with a four‑set win over Dayton, 25‑22, 25‑11, 22‑25, 25‑18.
