Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with two suspicious fires in Fernley, according to North Lyon Fire.
Just after 1 a.m. Oct. 3, crews responded to an outdoor fire in the 1700 block of Oak Drive. The footage was forwarded to the Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Office for investigation.
At about 12:38 a.m. Oct. 4, crews responded to another suspicious fire in the 100 block of Royal Oaks Drive, less than one-tenth of a mile from the first fire. Evidence at both scenes indicated the fires might be related.
North Lyon Fire and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office personnel secured the second scene, and the Nevada State Fire Marshal’s Office investigated.
On Oct. 5, North Lyon Fire was notified that an arrest had been made in connection with both fires. The district said no further information would be released because the criminal investigation remained ongoing.
