The Fernley swimming pool has taken another step toward reopening, with its pump, filtration, chemical-feed and heating systems back in operation, according to an update shared by Suzanne Prouty, chair of the pool district’s board of trustees.
Pool manager Patrick reported that the systems appear to be operating correctly, although some functions still need to be fully verified.
The pump is circulating and filtering water, chemicals are beginning to feed into the system, and the water is being heated.
Patrick also reported a change in the water’s color after the systems restarted. He attributed it to accumulated debris returning from the piping to the main pool and said he expected normal filtration and chemical treatment to clear it. Additional treatment may be needed if rust residue is involved.
State health officials have been notified that the pool is ready for inspection, but an inspection date had not been confirmed at the time of the update.
No reopening date was provided.
