Fernley senior Hailey Hall tied for ninth overall and qualified for the 3A State Girls Golf Tournament which was scheduled to be played earlier this week.
Hall shot 204 in the two-day 3A North Region Tournament held Oct. 5 at Lake Tahoe Golf Course and Oct. 6 at Tahoe Donner Golf Course. She was the No. 2 individual qualifier, shooting 100 in the first round and 104 in the second.
Fernley placed sixth as a team with rounds of 432 and 463 for a team score of 895. Truckee was the Region champion with a total score of 734, with Elko second at 785 and Lowry third with 789.
Coach Brian O’Neill said Hall was steady both days and the team closed the season with its best team round on Day 1 of the tournament.
“Tahoe Donner is a tough track for the field and the Day 2 scores showed that,” he said.
O’Neill added that he was proudest of the team’s three seniors, noting that Scarlet Garvin and Brylee Harry were in the hunt to qualify for State and the first day of regionals.
Harry posted 110 both days to place 26th overall at 220, which was seven strokes behind the final individual qualifier. Garvin shot 107-122 to finish at 229 in 33rd place, Isabella Martinez finished 38th with her two-day total of 251, and Kaia Ressler shot 253 to finish 39th.
The 3A State Tournament was scheduled to be held at Ruby View Golf Course in Elko Oct. 12-13.
