Lyon County Sheriff’s Office K9 teams participated Oct. 3 in the fifth annual Carson City Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit Challenge, with two LCSO dogs earning second-place finishes in individual events.
K9 Blady placed second in the agility competition, and K9 Ares placed second in narcotics detection. LCSO also entered K9s Linda and Kilo in the regional event, which brought together K9 teams from multiple agencies across Northern Nevada for skill and discipline demonstrations centered on the duties they perform in the field.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office hosted the challenge, which highlights the training and teamwork between handlers and their K9 partners. Agencies, volunteers and community members supported the event.
Next year’s competition is scheduled to be held in Virginia City.
