Fernley families will have two chances to celebrate Halloween this month, with community events planned by the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows and the City of Fernley.

The Boys & Girls Club, serving Fernley, will hold its 6th Annual Trunk or Treat on Thursday, Oct. 29, beginning at 5 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club, 695 E. Main St.

The event will include trunk-or-treating, food trucks and a new feature this year, Mad Scientist Plaza. The event is presented by Walmart and will also recognize Lights On Afterschool, a national celebration highlighting the importance of after-school programs.

Sponsors include CareSource, SilverSummit Healthplan and Nevada Health Link.

Two days later, the City of Fernley will host its 2026 Spooktacular at City Hall, 595 Silver Lace Blvd., on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 4 to 7 p.m.

The community Halloween celebration is open to families, and organizers are inviting residents to volunteer, donate or join in the festivities.

The Spooktacular is also participating in the Teal Pumpkin, Blue Pumpkin and Purple Pumpkin projects, which promote a more inclusive Halloween for children and families with different needs.

For information about the City of Fernley Spooktacular, contact Jessica Murdock at 775-784-9850.

With both events scheduled just days apart, Fernley families will have plenty of opportunities for costumes, candy and community fun before Halloween night.

A pebble loose in the water part (replacing all concrete) 4. Hurricane Polo makes a sudden turn and blows off the roof (again). For a large municipal facility like the indoor-outdoor Fernley Swimming Pool located at 300 Cottonwood Lane, a complete ground-up commercial build or major structural renovation typically spans 6 to 12 months or longer when factoring in large-scale engineering, public municipal permitting, specialized commercial HVAC/roofing, and health department inspections. Now you sat October. Soooo 8 months for a new roof. The picture shows no other renovations. It smells like sewage and it can be bad enough that people don’t want to be outside or open their windows. It would be helpful to get an investigative journalist help the Fernley residents get a clear answer from the City, NDEP, and any involved facilities. I was really disappointed that the smell was not disclosed by my realtor when I moved here. I enjoy Fernley and am seeing the improvements that are being made.
