The Pyramid Lake football team lost 32–18 to Owyhee on Sept. 24 in a physical, high‑intensity matchup that head coach Brian Borden said showed progress for a young Lakers roster.
Borden credited Owyhee’s growth and depth.
“It was a very hard‑nosed, intense football game,” he said. “A lot of respect and credit towards Owyhee. They are really turning the corner with their program. I’ve been with PL for six years and never seen that many young men out for their program. There were close to 30 players on the team.”
He said Pyramid Lake’s freshmen continue to gain valuable experience.
“Overall, PL played really well considering how young we are,” he said. “Our freshmen are getting some great reps and have a very bright future ahead of them.”
Borden also highlighted senior Bradley Lara, who has played nearly every position during his career.
“This year he stepped up to the QB position and rotates at tight end as well,” Borden said. “He is one of our best line blockers and a great leader for the younger players. He has an amazing future ahead of him just by his work ethic.”
