If you see a triage unit set up on the top corner of the Lowry High School property on Great Basin Drive, it just might be for the Lowry girls soccer team.
Battling through injuries and concussions all year, the Buckaroos started out Northern 3A East play with one goalie out with a broken wrist and another with a concussion. LHS coach Chris Entwistle has had to play Tetris with the lineup all fall.
Lowry hit the road last weekend for its sixth and seven road matches out of eight since Aug, 28, stopping in Fallon on Friday, Sept. 18.
The Greenwave grabbed a 2-0 advantage in the first half, before the Buckaroos closed to the gap to 2-1 at halftime. Lowry scored the tying goal early in the second half, when Fallon netted the final five goals in the 7-2 win.
Yareli Garcia and Julie Chavez each had a goal and Ava Swensen added an assist.
Lowry was in danger of getting swept over the weekend, trailing Fernley 2-1 after 40 minutes of play on Saturday afternoon. The trip got much better, as the Buckaroos netted two goals in the second half to come back for the 3-2 victory.
Swensen found the back of the net twice, with Adalyn Entwistle adding a goal and assist. Luna Alvarez had an assist as well.
With all the injuries, sophomore Aliyah Zamudio moved up from the JV team and had two saves.
Lowry has some time off to get healthier, with its next match on Sept. 29, in Winnemucca against Spring Creek.
