The Fernley High School volleyball team finished crossover play against the Northern 3A West and started league play in the East with a pair of sweeps last week.

The Vaqueros dominated the match, with their 10 service aces nearly matching their 14 kills. Victoria Torres served six of the aces. Grace Chapin and Emma Masters each had three kills, while Leah Holmes, Jocelyn Escartin and Trista Menesini each had two.
Torres and Alauna Escartin both had seven assists, while Jocelyn Escartin also had seven digs.
Last Friday the Vaqueros swept Lowry 25-14, 25-14, 25-13.
Menesini had eight kills and seven digs, Chapin added six kills, Jocelyn Escartin had seven digs, Torres had 11 assists and Alauna Escartin had 10 assists.
The Vaqueros entered this week 16-6 overall, 1-0 in league play and with four consecutive wins.
They were scheduled to host Smith Valley Tuesday night in a nonleague match, before traveling to east this weekend to face Elko at 6 p.m. Friday and Spring Creek at noon Saturday. Next Tuesday, Sept. 29 they host Fallon at 6 p.m.
