I have this one friend…
Actually, funny story. That reminds me of a very dear friend of mine who used to joke that she got so old and cranky that she only had two friends left – Leanna and me. And then she died, so Leanna and I will joke from time to time that we only have one friend left.
Sometimes I do feel that way, sort of like a loner. There are definite hermit tendencies the older I get. Lots of them, which leads me to time on the porch with Clio and the chickens instead of going to the Arts Council to join the Fallon Film Society, which really did sound fun, but then there was the sagebrush and the sunset calling, so home I went.
Anyway, back to this friend.
Well, now I can’t remember what the heck I was going to write about said friend. Neither is there any recollection of what in the world that whole train of thought even was. Nor of which friend I had in mind. A few days ago, this idea came to my head, so I hurried up and sat down and typed all that out and then got sidetracked writing stories and editing and figuring out layout for Lovelock and finessing Fernley… and, and, and.
We were all laughing around the office yesterday, comparing notes of how we all have so many balls in the air right now we often come back to some task several days later baffled by what we had been doing and left lying there undone. Some of us are claiming age, but others are assigning to us personality flaws.
Imagine. Being so organized and disciplined that you can look at another human, a coworker even, and cast aspersions.
So, while some of us spin these plates, and others tap their toes with impatience, we’ll all still be right here…
