Fernley’s Mayor’s Free Recycle Day drew 172 vehicles Saturday, with collection bins filling by 9:50 a.m. Volunteers helped residents dispose of hard-to-handle items during the annual event at Out of Town Park. Sierra Nevada Realtors used the event to kick off Realtor Give Back Week, joining other volunteers and sponsors including HERO Environmental, Waste Management, Redwood Materials, Greater Nevada Credit Union and Buddy Boys. Organizers said some residents were lined up before the event opened and are already looking ahead to next year.
