Two arrested on drug charges following service of high-risk search warrant

Two people were arrested Wednesday on drug charges following an investigation into a report of illegal drugs, firearms and evidence related to a possible homicide.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said the SWAT team and Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the scene and a search warrant executed for the home in Villa Mobile Home Park in Fernley.

Two people were inside the home and during the operation, LCSO said detectives found evidence of illegal drug sales, firearms and drug paraphernalia in the home. Despite the initial information detectives were given, they determined the report of a homicide was unfounded.

The occupant ants of the home, Kody Gitthens, 29, and Emma Burns, 19, both of Fernley, were booked into the Lyon County Jail. LCSO said detectives were still reviewing evidence and had not determined the final list of charges as of Wednesday.

It smells like sewage and it can be bad enough that people don’t want to be outside or open their windows. It would be helpful to get an investigative journalist help the Fernley residents get a clear answer from the City, NDEP, and any involved facilities. I was really disappointed that the smell was not disclosed by my realtor when I moved here. I enjoy Fernley and am seeing the improvements that are being made.
