The Silver Stage High School volleyball team was busy last week with three Northern 2A matches.
Silver Stage hosted Sierra Lutheran on Sept. 2, falling in four sets. Sierra Lutheran won the first two sets 25-21 and 25-14, before Silver Stage kept the match going by claiming the third set 25-19. The Falcons closed out the match, winning the fourth set 25-21.
Sophomore Priscilla Hesselguesser knocked down six of the Nighthawks’ 13 kills, with Lauren Broughton adding two. Aliyah Diaz and Broughton contributed five aces apiece, with Annebelle Glass adding two.
Robin Smith dished out all 13 assists, Hesselguesser had five blocks and Joselyn Fayaud had a team-high 14 digs. Brooke Lehman had eight digs, Glass seven and Morgyn Phoenix and Diaz five each.
Silver Stage traveled to Yerington on Friday for a Lyon County meeting, where the Lions won in three sets 25-17, 25-18, 25-10.
Hesselguesser (5) and Diaz (4) combined for all nine kills, with Samantha Sell picking up three aces and a block and Hesselguesser adding five blocks. Diaz contributed two blocks and two digs. Smith finished with eight assists and five digs, with Fayaud having 12 digs and Lehman and Phoenix seven digs apiece.
The packed week finished on Saturday, as Silver Stage hosted Pershing County, with the Mustangs winning 25-12, 25-13, 25-21.
The Nighthawks are 1-11 overall and 0-5 in the Northern 2A.
Silver Stage hosts Coral Academy of Reno on Saturday at noon.
Silver Stage football blanked by Incline
After a week off, the Silver Stage football team traveled to Incline this past Saturday, with the Highlanders winning 41-0 on their home field.
Incline used a 19-point second quarter to lead 26-0 at halftime.
Silver Stage is back home on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m.
