Pyramid Lake opens football season, volleyball falls to Owyhee

The Pyramid Lake High School football team opened its season with a 53-6 loss at Indian Springs last Friday.

Sophomore Max Padilla led the Lakers with 72 yards rushing on eight carries and a touchdown.

The Lakers are off this week and return to action Sept. 10 at Hawthorne. They are scheduled to host Carlin on Sept. 17 for their home opener.

On Aug. 27, the Pyramid Lake volleyball team lost a nonleague match to Owyhee 20-25, 22-25, 25-15, 19-25.

The Lakers were 1-4 before heading to Smith Valley on Tuesday for their 1A Western League match. They are scheduled to host Sage Ridge next Tuesday and play at Hawthorne next Thursday.
