After playing just one match since Aug. 15, the schedule gets busy in a hurry this week for the Fernley High School volleyball team. The Vaqueros were scheduled to host the Debbie Smith Academy Tuesday and play at Wooster Wednesday before heading to Las Vegas to play in a tournament at Liberty and Silverado.
The Vaqueros hadn’t played for 10 days when they went to Truckee last week, where a strong finish wasn’t enough to overcome a slow start. The Vaqueros lost their first Northern 3A crossover game on Aug. 25 of the season 13-25, 16-25, 25-22, 27-25, 12-15.
“The girls are starting to play good together, and we will continue working to solidify the lineup these next few weeks in the preseason and tournament,” coach Diane Chapin said. “The returning players are playing well and the new ones are improving every match.”
