A commemorative statue created for Fernley’s 25th anniversary has been placed in its temporary home at the Main Street Art Park.
The piece includes several symbols representing Fernley and Nevada, including a horse, cowboy hat, the shape of the state, three F’s for Fernley, an eagle and a bighorn sheep. The sculpture also incorporates pieces of steel connected to longtime Fernley residents who have died, adding a personal piece of community history to the work.
City officials highlighted the installation during the Sept. 2 Fernley City Council meeting.
Councilman Ryan Hanan said the sculpture’s final destination will be in the center of the new roundabout once that project is completed. For now, residents can see it at the Art Park.
Mayor Neal McIntyre described the piece as “absolutely beautiful” and thanked Twisted Steel and Art of Bronze for creating it. He also recognized HG Construction for donating time and equipment to help with the installation, along with city staff who worked on the project.
The project was made possible through the work of Twisted Steel, HG Construction LLC, the 25th Anniversary Committee, Art of Bronze and the City of Fernley Parks Department.
The statue is one of several efforts tied to Fernley’s 25th anniversary and is intended to reflect the city’s history, identity and connection to the broader Nevada landscape.
