A Fernley accused of making armed threats and firing multiple gunshots near a convenience store was arrested Sept. 1.
Lyon County Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 11:45 p.m. Aug. 31 to the 7-11 on East Main St. for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Witnesses told deputies a man had threatened to shoot others and himself. As the suspect left the scene in a vehicle, several gunshots were fired near the store and nearby gas pumps.
LCSO Chief Deputy Mitch Brantingham told the Fernley City Council deputies found evidence at the scene and were able to look at surveillance video. They identified a suspect, and after putting the case together and looking for the suspect, they found him just before 10 p.m. Sept. 1 at Lowe’s.
The suspect, identified as Christopher Tyson Serrato, a Fernley resident, was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm from a vehicle in a prohibited or populated area, discharging a firearm where persons may be endangered, breach of peace and unlawful discharge of a firearm. Serrato’s total bond was set at $53,780.
