Vaqueros boys soccer looking for first win Thursday

After coming up empty in the win column and on the scoreboard last weekend at the South Tahoe Boys and Girls Soccer Tournament Aug. 14-15, the Fernley High School boys soccer team will try for its first win of the season on Thursday.

The Vaqueros are scheduled to host Debbie Smith CTE Academy at 6 p.m.

The Vaqueros are coming off four shutout losses in the South Tahoe tournament last weekend. On Friday, they lost 5-0 to Doral Academy Red Rock, a member of the Southern 4A, and 5-0 Northern 3A member Lowry.

Saturday they lost 6-0 to Faith Lutheran and 3-0 to North Valleys.

“Kids played their hearts out and fought until the last second but came short to some great teams,” coach Angel Muniz said. “There’s so much to say but we just need to train harder and keep pushing. I’m proud how these boys maintained their composure and stayed positive throughout the tournament.”

No individual stats were available for last week’s games.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
