David McCulloch Jackson, 80, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, in Port Angeles, Washington.
Born on October 29, 1945, in Reno, Nevada, to David and Betty Jackson, David was a third-generation resident of Fernley and the oldest of three siblings. Following his graduation from Fernley High School, he attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education.
David dedicated many years to education as a teacher within the Lyon County School District in Fernley. Alongside his teaching career, he worked the family farm. Later in life, David moved to Washington State, where he continued his commitment to education by teaching at the Muckleshoot Reservation Schools and also worked as a field technician for the Grant County Public Utility District.
A man of diverse interests, David maintained a small garden of irises, whose rhizomes he would carefully dig up and relocate every time he moved. In retirement, he tried his hand at raising goats. In his final years, David embraced a love for travel, becoming a world traveler and sailing on numerous cruises with extensive itineraries.
David is survived by his spouse, Carolyn Morrison of Sequim, WA; two sons, Jimmy (Brooke) of Idaho Falls, ID, and Gary (Naomi) of Crookston, MN; and six grandchildren: Michelle, Lena, Annie, Peri, Cora, and Rory. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Jackson; sister, Betsy Jackson Dixon (Steve); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and the mother of his children, Linda Elaine Jackson.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 29, 2026 at Masonic Memorial Gardens at Mountain View Cemetery in Reno, NV. Following David's service, the family will hold an additional service at Masonic Memorial Gardens for Linda Elaine Jackson.
