Four Fernley residents were arrested in July after separate investigations by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Task Force found alleged violations of Nevada’s sex offender registration requirements.
Stephen Lafever, 55, was arrested July 17 after deputies conducted a traffic stop in the Fernley area and identified him as a passenger in the vehicle.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, investigators determined Lafever, a registered Tier III sex offender, had failed to report a vehicle to which he had regular access. The investigation also found Lafever had prior convictions for sex offender registration violations.
He was booked into the Lyon County Jail on one count of violation of sex offender registration requirements, subsequent offense.
Edward Milton Gilbert Jr., 58, was arrested July 20 after investigators determined he had allegedly failed to update his registration after obtaining new employment and acquiring a new vehicle. Both changes are required to be reported under Nevada law, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Gilbert was booked on one count of prohibited act by a sex offender, first offense.
The task force arrested two additional Fernley residents the following week for allegedly failing to complete their required annual registrations.
Verdon Ahmad Davis-Deloney, 22, a registered Tier III sex offender, was arrested July 28.
Johnny Lee Lawson, 71, also a registered Tier III sex offender, was arrested July 29.
Both men were booked into the Lyon County Jail on one count each of prohibited act by a sex offender, first offense.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said its Sex Offender Task Force conducts routine compliance checks and investigates suspected registration violations involving offenders who live, work or attend school in Lyon County.
