North Lyon Fire Protection District responded to 72 calls for service between July 19 and July 26, with medical emergencies accounting for nearly two-thirds of the total.
The district reported 47 medical calls during the week, along with seven traffic collisions, seven public assists, seven false alarms or good-intent calls, two hazardous-condition calls, one brush fire and one odor investigation.
North Lyon Fire also provided mutual aid to neighboring agencies on four incidents and received mutual aid assistance six times.
District officials said those partnerships help ensure the closest available resources respond when emergencies occur, improving service across Fernley and surrounding rural areas.
As summer traffic increases, the district is also reminding drivers to watch carefully for motorcycles, bicycles and pedestrians.
Drivers are encouraged to slow down, stay alert and look twice before turning, changing lanes or entering an intersection.
