Community leaders, business partners and Texcel employees gathered recently for the ribbon cutting of the company’s newest regional distribution center, marking another milestone in Fernley's continued growth as one of Northern Nevada's premier logistics and manufacturing hubs.
The new 80,000-square-foot warehouse is Texcel's sixth regional distribution facility and represents a significant investment in the community. The facility will serve customers throughout the western United States by providing faster access to industrial hose, hydraulic hose, flat goods and hose assembly products.
With the new location now fully operational, many West Coast customers can expect one to two-day delivery times, same-day shipping and expanded inventory availability. Texcel has also extended customer service hours to 5 p.m. Pacific Time, giving customers in the western United States direct access to live support from the company's service team.
"The opening of our Fernley facility represents an exciting milestone for Texcel as we continue to grow our national footprint and better serve customers across the western United States," said Texcel CEO Jake Walker. "This location allows us to strengthen our distribution network, improve delivery times and remain committed to the quality and service our customers have relied on for decades."
The ribbon cutting also highlighted the company's investment in its workforce with the promotion of Bernard Young to warehouse manager for the Fernley facility.
Young, who has been with Texcel for several years, said he has witnessed tremendous growth throughout the company while its core values have remained consistent.
"The biggest change I've seen is the growth in our operations and the way we've used technology and processes to improve efficiency and customer service," Young said. "What has stayed the same is our commitment to quality, safety and taking care of both our customers and employees."
As he takes on leadership of the new facility, Young said his focus will be on building a strong team culture centered on communication, accountability and employee development.
"The most valuable lesson I've learned is that success comes from the people around you," he said. "No matter how good the equipment or processes are, it takes a strong team working together to achieve results."
Young hopes the Fernley operation becomes known not only for operational excellence, but also for creating a workplace where employees are proud of what they accomplish together.
"I want Fernley to be recognized as a location where employees take pride in their work, support one another and consistently deliver outstanding service to our customers," he said. "If people look back years from now and say we built a team that cared about each other and set a standard for success, that would be a legacy I'm proud to leave behind."
The addition of Texcel to Fernley continues the city's momentum as a destination for companies seeking strategic access to major transportation corridors while creating new employment opportunities and contributing to the region's economic development.
The ribbon cutting served as both a celebration of Texcel's westward expansion and another example of Fernley's growing role as a key distribution center in Northern Nevada.
