The City of Fernley is asking residents to help shape the community’s future as work continues on an update to the city’s 2050 Master Plan.
The plan will guide decisions about how Fernley grows and develops over the next 25 years. It will address issues including housing, transportation, parks, economic development, public services and other community priorities.
City officials are encouraging residents to complete a community questionnaire and share their thoughts about Fernley’s needs, challenges and opportunities.
Public feedback will help planners develop a long-term vision that reflects the priorities of the people who live and work in the community.
Residents do not need to be longtime Fernley residents to participate. The city is seeking input from people who have lived in Fernley for decades, as well as those who have recently moved to the area.
The questionnaire asks residents to consider how the community should grow, what services and amenities are most important and what issues city leaders should consider as they plan for Fernley’s future.
The master plan is intended to provide a framework for future policy and development decisions. While it does not approve individual projects, it helps guide city officials when considering land use, infrastructure, transportation, public facilities and economic development.

City officials are also asking residents to share the questionnaire with friends, family members and neighbors so the planning process includes as much community input as possible.
The city said public participation is an important part of creating a plan that reflects Fernley’s needs and priorities.
