Robert Perea, The Fernley Reporter

The Nevada Highway Patrol and Lyon County Sheriff's Office are looking for information on the fatal collision that killed a pedestrian Monday evening on U.S. 50A.

According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, on March 13, at approximately 6:14 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers were called to US50A/16LY (near Pioneer Crossing) for a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a white 2013 Chrysler Town and Country Minivan was traveling westbound when the vehicle struck a juvenile pedestrian in the roadway.

The juvenile pedestrian was transported to a Reno hospital where he succumbed to the injuries he sustained from the collision.  The cause and details of the collision are still under investigation. The Nevada Highway Patrol and Lyon County Sheriff’s Office are working together on this investigation.  It is unknown if alcohol or drugs are involved in this incident.

If you were a witness to this incident, or have any information regarding this collision, please contact Trooper Karen Garretson of the Nevada Highway Patrol Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) at 775-689-4625 or [email protected]  regarding Case #170301142.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
