At its May 20 meeting, the Fernley City Council approved adding incoming and outgoing fax services to the city’s fee schedule after staff reported an increase in requests following the recent closure of a local business that previously offered the service.
City Clerk Kim Swanson told the council that the closure of The Office Shipping and Mailboxes has resulted in residents coming to City Hall for faxing needs. She said adding the fee allows staff to provide the service consistently while charging an established rate.
Under the new fee schedule, the city will charge $1 for the first page and $1.50 for each additional page.
Councilwoman Felicity Zoberski asked whether the city already offered faxing services and whether the change would create a workload issue.
Swanson said the city had received fax requests in the past but did not have an adopted fee for the service. She said the change simply adds faxing to the existing fee resolution.
The council approved the fee addition on a 4-0 vote.
