Fernley High School senior Danny Porter finished tied for 16th at the 3A State Golf Tournament May 12–13 at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City.
Porter shot 80 in the first round on May 12 and 88 in the second round to finish at 168, tied with Straton Owen of Lowry for 16th place. He was one of four players tied for seventh place after the first round.
Porter finished 10th in the Northern 3A season standings, and he and Owen tied for ninth among Northern players at the state tournament.
Jack Marma of Elko and Dierks Hammon of Fallon were the individual co-champions with total scores of 149. Elko won the team championship with a total score of 641.
