The Nevada Highway Patrol is investigating a wrong-way crash on Interstate 80 about six miles east of Fernley that killed one person and injured three others on May 9.
Troopers responded to the crash on I-80 near mile marker 56 at approximately 4:46 a.m.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a pickup was traveling westbound on I-80 in the eastbound number one travel lane and crashed into a sedan that was traveling eastbound.
Both drivers were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A child rear passenger of the sedan was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The front right passenger of the sedan, a woman, was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel. NHP did not release the identity of the woman killed in the crash.
Impairment is suspected of being a factor in the crash, and the Nevada Highway Patrol Major Incident Reconstruction Team is investigating.
