Trustees approve two-year master calendars

Trustees approve two-year master calendars

The Lyon County School Board approved the master calendars for the 2027-28 and 2028-29 school years.

District policy requires the district to create a school master calendar two years in advance. Executive Director of Human Resources Billie Jo Hogan told the trustees the calendars meet district policies that require Christmas vacation for two full weeks if possible, Spring Break for one full week either the last week of March or the first week of April, the first day of school to be prior to Labor Day each year, and Thanksgiving Break for one full week.

In 2027-28, the first day of school will be Aug. 18, with the last day of school on June 2. Spring Break will be April 3-7.

The 2028-29 school year will start Aug. 17, with the last day June 1 and Spring Break March 26-30.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
