Healthy Communities meets Thursday, Feb. 12

Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties’ next public meeting takes place Thursday, Feb. 12 at the Silver Springs Community Center at 2945 Fort Churchill Street, Silver Springs, from 9 a,m. to 11 a.m.

The February meeting includes presentations on two different topics by guest speakers. Christina Cervi, Senior Case Manager with Lyon County Human Services (LCHS) Children’s Services Division, will give an overview of family support and home visiting services offered through LCHS. Alisha Moss, Prevention Coordinator for HCC, will give an overview of the Clean Indoor Air Act, as well as updates about current tobacco use and vaping prevention strategies in our region.

In addition to breakfast and guest presentations, the Coalition’s bi-monthly meetings include updates and announcements from Coalition staff, volunteers and community partners.

Healthy Communities Coalition is comprised of local, state, federal and tribal group partners, community volunteers, and a board of directors and staff all working together on a common goal to strengthen communities in the Lyon and Storey regions. The Coalition strives to promote and support sustainable, inclusive prevention services, community initiatives, and capacity-building systems that address all components of a healthy community.
