Schlegelmilch, Rye unopposed for District Court Judge seats

Third Judicial District Court Judge John Schlegelmilch and Lyon County District Attorney Steve Rye will each run unopposed for Lyon County’s two District Court judge positions.

Schlegelmilch filed for his third term as the Third Judicial District Court Judge in Department 1. Rye filed for the Department 2 seat, which is being vacated at the end of the year by current Judge Leon Aberasturi, who announced in December that he will retire when his term ends.

Judge Schlegelmilch has served on a wide range of Judicial Improvement Commissions and is currently a member of the Nevada Judicial Council as well as Chairman of the Sierra Region of Judges. He was also certified as one of the original Nevada Water Law District Judges in the state.

Steve Rye has served as Lyon County District Attorney since his election in 2014 and was reelected in 2018 and 2022.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.Comment publication date: 5/7/26, 10:26 AMComment source: Storey County, Tesla partner to extend I-80 Patrick on-rampComment author: Alan ReederComment text: Great guy, laughed easily, had fun with his students, enjoyed our time together at FHS!Comment publication date: 4/23/26, 10:23 PMComment source: Howard David JacksonComment author: Jack & Nancy CookComment text: Wonderful man.
