One arrested, one critically injured in shooting in Fernley parking lot

One person was arrested and another was taken to the hospital by CareFlight after a shooting on Jan. 7.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls starting at 6:48 p.m. about a shooting in the parking lot of the Fernley Village Marketplace, in front of Steve’s Homemade Ice Cream.

Deputies found one person with multiple gunshot wounds. Personnel from the North Lyon Fire Protection District arrived and immediately began providing medical care to the victim. The victim was subsequently transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by CareFlight.

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division responded and arrested Cameron Bryce Kessler, a 35-year-old resident of Fernley, on charges of attempted murder, battery with a deadly weapon, and discharging a firearm in public. His bail was set at $80,640.

The Sheriff’s Office said it hasn’t yet determined the motive for the shooting, and the investigation is continuing.

The victim was in critical but stable condition and was expected to survive.

Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
