The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam in which callers impersonate Lyon County officers to collect money.
Officials say residents have received calls and voicemails referencing legal matters, sometimes using the name “Sergeant Murray.” In previous incidents, scammers contacted family members of recently arrested individuals, claiming money was needed for bail or jail-related programs, often demanding payment via gift cards or mobile payment apps.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that it would never call to request money or personal information and urges residents not to respond to these calls.
