With four tournament champions, the Fernley boys wrestling team finished second out of 33 teams in the Redwood Rumble last Saturday in Larkspur, CA.

Riley McCullar, Nathan Pritchard, Isaid Solis and Archie Mendez each won the championship in their weight classes, while Jackson Bragg and Keon Kreller both placed fifth and Brody Jones and Isaiah Mutte finished in sixth place.

The prep teams traveled to Hug and also wrestled well. For the boys, Alex Davis was a tournament champion, Bryan Rotor finished in second place, Ayden Stolle, Baylor Gillespie, Roverto Robles and Isaiah Barajas all finished third, while Darius Carney, Ivan Arias and Landon Monahan each placed fourth.

For the girls, Bronwynn Garrett, Zoe Gillespie and Faith Mhondo were the champions of their weight classes, Blessing Mhondo and Izzy Martinez finished second and Morgan Neher came in fourth.

“Overall, as a program, Fernley wrestlers were well represented at the podium this week,” coach Jake McCullar said. “We need to keep grinding and stay humble.”
