Boys soccer ends season on high note

Boys soccer ends season on high note

The Fernley High School boys soccer team wrapped up the regular season with a flourish,

beating Fallon 5-0 last Friday night.

The Vaqueros finished the season with a 2-7-1 record in the Northern 3A East Division, and 2-

13-4 overall.

Leland Ketelaar scored two goals for Fernley, while Jesus Infante, Luis Salazar and Jiovani

Paredes, all seniors, scored goals for Fernley. Salazar also had two assists and Brandon Ibarra,

Logan Kallas and Todd Wickenden each had one.

“I would like to say it was a great game and a great way to end the season with 5-0 victory for

varsity,” coach Angel Muniz said. “They played an amazing game. Even though falling short

from the playoffs they still played their heart out. To the seniors, best of luck on their next

adventures and hope to see them on TV playing big soccer games.”

The JV team finished with a 3-1 victory over Fallon to finish with an undefeated 8-0-2 league

record.

“I could not express how proud I am of these boys creating a connection in such short amount of

time which was a big factor to this undefeated record,” Muniz said.

The girls team lost its final game at Fallon last Friday, 7-0. The Vaqueros ended the season with a

4-14 overall record and 0-7 in league play.

I grew up in Fernley and would be interested to see how many answers I know. The coin is beautiful. Congrats on 25 years as a city! Why does the County have to pay the whole bill? Just my opinion.
