Nevada Assembly Minority Leader Gregory Hafen has submitted the name of Blayne Osborn of
Gardnerville to fill the vacancy in Assembly District 39 for the rest of the term.
The seat was vacated by the resignation of Ken Gray.
District 39 represents Douglas County and part of Lyon County, including Dayton and a portion
of Silver Springs. Because the district covers two counties, both county commissions are
required to approve the appointment of a replacement separately, then meet jointly to approve the
appointment. The Lyon County Commission was scheduled to vote on the nomination of Hafen
at its Oct. 16 meeting.
Osborn is the current president of Nevada Rural Hospital Partners and has been involved in
every legislative session and special session in Nevada since 2009.
Gray resigned his Assembly seat after he was appointed by President Donald Trump to serve as
Senior Advisor to the National Cemetery Administration at the U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs.
Gray defeated Osborn in the 2022 Republican primary for District 39.
