Howl-O-Ween 5K to raise funds for future animal shelter

Friends of Fernley Animal Services (FFAS) will be hosting a Howl-O-Ween 5K Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, Oct. 19 at the Out of Town Park.

FFAS is a nonprofit organization that was created in partnership with the city to raise money for a future animal shelter to house dogs and cats. The event is the new group’s first big fundraiser event.

The run/walk is a Halloween themed event and there will be a costume contest for the most creative costume, best owner/pet duo, and funniest costumes. There will also be an adoption event with local rescues and guest vendors including businesses and animal service organizations.

The event will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the cost is $40 per runner or walker.

Registration to participate in the run or walk is available at https://runsignup.com/Race/NV/Fernley/HowlOWeen5KFunRunWalk.
