Girls soccer suffers pair of 1-0 defeats

A pair of tense battles turned into heartbreaking losses for the Fernley High School girls soccer 

team last weekend. 

The Vaqueros battled both Spring Creek and Elko on near even terms, but lost 1-0 to Spring 

Creek last Friday, then 1-0 to Elko on Saturday.  

The Vaqueros are now 0-3 in the Northern 3A East despite having allowed only four goals. They 

are 4-9 overall. 

This week the Vaqueros will host Fallon at noon Saturday. 

Boys soccer 

The Vaqueros lost 5-0 at Spring Creek on Sept. 26 and 3-1 at Lowry on Sept. 27. 

No stats were available for the loss in Spring Creek. At Lowry, Leland Ketelaar scored Fernley’s 

goal. 

The Vaqueros fell to 0-3-1 in the Northern 3A East and 0-9-3 overall. 

This week they are scheduled to play at Fallon at 11:45 a.m. Saturday.
